We monitor each student's progress and provide additional learning support if this is required.
Our school uses learning programs and specialised staff where needed and we work in partnership with parents and carers to assist students who have special learning needs.
Our school is committed to working with Aboriginal parents and community members in developing personalised plans for our Aboriginal students.
Maclean High School currently has 5 Support Classes, catering for students with a wide variety of disabilities and diagnoses. Students in these classes have the option to attend some mainstream classes with support.
Learning Support staff also work across mainstream classes assisting students to maximise their learning outcomes. We assist students with literacy or numeracy- based difficulties, anxiety, dyslexia, medical conditions, broken bones, as well as a range of other issues which may impact on their ability to successfully engage with the curriculum. Due to family or health related problems, some students may need assistance to catch up on missed work.
