The open boys cricket team travelled to Casino for the 2nd round of the knock out competition after a forfeit win against Evans River in round 1. Captain Ashley Moss won the toss and elected to bowl first. Fast bowlers Nathan Hollis and Duncan Fischer backed their captain's decision and did most of the damage with the ball as they skittled Casino for 114. Feeling confident chasing a small total, opening batsmen Blake Ryan and Coby Tabor got Maclean off to a steady start with the bat. Maclean lost 5 wickets for 20 runs in a top and middle order collapse which saw Casino in the box seat to take victory. The team was 7 for 58 when Captain Ashley Moss came to the crease to steady the ship. He took a mature and level headed approach to claw in opponent's score of 114. The boys won with one wicket to spare in the 4th last over with Ashley Moss unbeaten on 38. It was truly a ‘Captains knock', the boys head to Lismore next to play Rivers College in the next round.
