The open boys cricket team travelled to Lismore to play Rivers College for the 3rd round of the knock out competition. Maclean High won the toss and elected to bat first. Opening batsmen Coby Tabor and Nathan Hollis got us off to a cracking start, putting together a partnership of 53 off the first eight overs. At drinks the boys were in an excellent position at 3 for 129 off 20 overs. The dreaded ‘drinks break curse' struck as our momentum was halted and we failed to push on and capitalise. A batting collapse saw the boys all out for 175 off just 33 of the 40 allocated overs. Coby Tabor was the pick of the batsmen with an outstanding individual total of 80 runs. The feeling amongst the group was very positive heading out to field and the boys put in a valiant effort. However, the seven overs we left unused came back to haunt us as Rivers College easily chased down the total with seven wickets in hand in the 33rd over.
