Westpac Rescue Helicopter visits Maclean High School.

On Friday 12 August, The Westpac Rescue Helicopter visited Maclean High School, landing on the eastern sports oval, and what a thrill it was for us.

The Pilot, Zeke spoke to the students from year 7, year 8, and year 9-12 Engineering Studies.  Zeke demonstrated the operations of the helicopter whilst explaining the reasons for the processes.

Year 11 and 12 Engineering Studies students, had the opportunity to see the reasons why the air craft actually flies, with a discussion on the control panel, engines and tail rotor.

This was such an excellent opportunity for students to learn the concepts of engineering in real life, rather than with a white board and marker.

Everyone, teachers and students agreed this was a rare and memorable experience for the whole school.

A huge thank you to Westpac Rescue, Zeke, for organising the visit and to all the students who assisted with directing students, barricades, etc., and staff for their assistance with supervision.
