The Aboriginal Numeracy Competition (ANC) is a numeracy based competition that was developed at Sarah Redfern High School with the aim to improve academic, social, and welfare based outcomes amongst their schools indigenous population. This project was then funded and implemented across a range of schools in NSW for their learning context. This project was implemented at Maclean High School as Indigenous Learners and involved mathematical and numerical games and problem based learning activities.
In 2015 this program operated under a cooperative learning model and included a student mentor program. Older indigenous students were invited to and participated in working with younger indigenous students. This program engaged all of those who participated and we look forward to offering this program again in the future. We would like to thank participating students and their parents/carers for their ongoing support. Further, Ms A Naughten and Ms D ‘Super Star' Breckenridge is to be commended on her excellent implementation of this program and organisation of each learning day.
